Neurological Conditions
Integrating traditional and modern acupuncture methods with neuroscience, we specialize in treating neurological conditions.
Much of acupuncture’s ability to influence physiology can be explained through its neuro-modulatory effects, and some of our most dramatic patient outcomes can be seen in those with neurological dysfunction and disease.

How does Acupuncture Work for Neurological Conditions?
Acupuncture generates signals in the peripheral nervous system. These signals change activation and promote circulation in nerves, the spinal cord and the brain, evoke neuroplasticity, as well as modulate other internal functions. Studies show acupuncture strategies can target blood flow to certain areas of the brain, and activate parts of the brain like the cerebellum, brainstem, speech areas, prefrontal cortex or motor cortex– all of which play different roles in movement, balance, behavior and pain inhibition.
Acupuncture can also support the healing of peripheral nerves, helping conditions like sciatica, peripheral neuropathy and post-herpetic neuralgia. Acupuncture even promote balance in the vagus nerve and the autonomic nervous system, lending support to conditions like dysautonomia, POTS, insomnia, and even more sub-clinical forms of stress.
Acupuncture’s effects are anti-inflammatory, pro-circulatory, and neuro-modulatory. Meaning, acupuncture can benefit many types of neurological conditions, including those listed below.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?
At your first visit, we will do a medical review of your case. Then we will tailor a treatment plan with just the right combination of acupuncture therapy and treatment frequency that work best for your unique neurological symptoms.
For the best results, we start with up to three visits per week. As your symptoms improve, you will decrease the frequency and increase the time between visits as you move on to maintenance visits, which can help keep the results you achieve.
If you choose to proceed with your recommended plan of care, you may receive treatment on your first visit, time permitting.
How Soon Will I See Results?
Most patients with neurological conditions report improvement after several weeks of care, though some can see immediate short-term gains. Your results will depend on your symptoms, how long you’ve been experiencing them, current state of health, medications, diet and lifestyle. We have a high success rate in reducing symptoms for the cases we accept for treatment at our clinic.
