Success Story

“I’m not having the unbearable sensations in my feet…my only regret is that I didn’t see Margaret sooner!”

What Is Peripheral Neuropathy?

Peripheral neuropathy occurs when there is damage to the peripheral nerves in your body, the nerves that carry messages to and from the brain. Peripheral nerves contain both large fibers covered with a type of insulation and very thin, small, uninsulated fibers. Neuropathy can affect either type of fiber, depending on the cause and severity of the condition. Those with damage to the small fibers often experience symptoms such as tingling, numbness, or burning pain in their hands or feet, while those with damage to larger fibers might experience problems with tripping, balance and weakness.

Over time, it is theorized that the nerves lose their blood supply or suffer from inflammation, which causes them to misfire, enter metabolic crisis, and even degenerate. They start sending abnormal signals to the brain. Without treatment, numbness and weakness begin to increase as the condition progresses.

Can Nerve Fibers Be Repaired?

You may have told you that you’ll just have to live with your neuropathy symptoms but we can help you find relief! At Inner Light Wellness Acupuncture we offer advanced, state of the art solutions to help YOUR neuropathy symptoms.

According to Harvard Neurologist Dr. Anne Louise Oaklander “The peripheral nerves keep growing throughout life. Just like broken bones, nerves will heal and regrow if you can remove the source of injury and protect them while they heal.”

How Many Treatments Will I Need for Neuropathy?

At your consultation we will discuss a treatment plan customized for YOUR neuropathy symptoms based on the length of time you’ve had symptoms and the degree of sensory loss you’re experiencing.

Treatment frequency is 2-3 visits per week for up to three months. Treatment goals are to increase blood flow and stimulate nerve fibers to make new connections to reduce or eliminate your symptoms.

When Will I See Results?

Neuropathy symptoms are slow to develop and slow to heal. A minimum three month treatment plan is recommended to give your therapies the time they need to begin stimulating nerves to heal and repair, though some types of neuropathy can recover faster.

Our pioneering combination of electro-medicine and neuro-acupuncture treatment has been shown to increase circulation and speed the body’s own innate capacity for healing and recovery. Say goodbye to tingling, burning, and numbness and feel the joy of relief!
